Privacy policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

1. Introduction

Clipr ("we," "our," or "us") operates the clipr.gg website and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service, and the rights you have over it.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account Information

  • Email address (required for account creation). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's name and email address; we never see your Google password
  • Display name
  • Account preferences and plan settings
  • How you found us when you signed up: the first page of that visit and the referring site's name or campaign tag (never the full address you came from)

Billing Information

  • Payment method type and last four digits (e.g., "Visa ending in 4242")
  • Subscription status and billing period
  • Full payment card details are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, and never stored on our servers

Usage Data

  • Clip and video URLs you submit for downloading or processing
  • Processing feature settings (layout, caption preferences)
  • Clip usage counts per billing period

Technical Data

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device information and screen resolution
  • Session data (stored server-side, encrypted)

3. How we use your information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service, including clip downloading and content processing
  • Process payments, tax and subscriptions via Paddle
  • Send transactional emails (login links, billing notifications) via Resend
  • Enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
  • Improve and optimize the Service
  • Monitor for security threats and technical issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or use your content to train AI models.

4. Content processing and third-party data

When you use the Processing Features, the following data flows occur:

  • Source video content is downloaded from Twitch's servers to our processing infrastructure for the duration of processing only
  • Audio transcription is performed using OpenAI's Whisper API. Clip audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription and is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy
  • Processed outputs are temporarily stored on Cloudflare R2 and are subject to automatic expiration. We do not guarantee long-term availability
  • Source content is not permanently stored on our servers. It is deleted after processing completes or fails

5. Third-party service providers

We share data with the following third-party providers to operate the Service:

  • Paddle — merchant of record for payments and tax. Receives billing information. Subject to Paddle's Privacy Policy
  • Resend — transactional email delivery. Receives your email address. Subject to Resend's Privacy Policy
  • RunPod — runs our speech-to-text model on its GPU servers to make captions. Receives the clip's audio while it is transcribed
  • Lemonfox — backup speech-to-text, used only when RunPod is unavailable. Receives the clip's audio while it is transcribed
  • Anthropic — when you use Find moments, receives the stream's transcript excerpts and chat activity to suggest moments. Under its commercial terms it does not train models on this data
  • YouTube, TikTok and Instagram — only when you connect an account and post to it. Receives the video and post details you choose. YouTube posting uses YouTube API Services and is subject to the Google Privacy Policy; you can revoke Clipr's access at any time in your Google security settings or by disconnecting the account in Studio
  • Google — optional sign-in with your Google account. Receives your sign-in request; we receive your name and email address
  • Cloudflare — network, security and delivery for the website, and storage (R2) of uploaded videos, processed video outputs and encrypted database backups
  • Google Analytics — usage analytics, only with your consent. Sets cookies. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
  • Twitch and Kick — source platforms for clip and video content. We access publicly available content via their public interfaces

Google user data. Clipr's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs (Google sign-in and YouTube) adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use it only to sign you in and to upload and manage the videos you choose to post. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, let people read it except where you ask us to, for security, or where the law requires, or use it to train AI models. Disconnecting your YouTube account in Studio, or deleting your account, deletes the tokens and data we hold from Google.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required for authentication, session management, and security. These cannot be disabled while using the Service
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics cookies to understand usage patterns. These are loaded only with your consent, with Google signals and ad personalization turned off

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not let third parties track you across other websites through Clipr. Without analytics consent we count page use only as anonymous daily totals on our own servers, with nothing that identifies you.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out: analytics never load and we do not ask. Browsers' older "Do Not Track" setting has no common standard; we do not track you across websites whether or not it is set.

You can change your analytics choice by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the question back.

7. Data retention

We retain data for the following periods:

  • Account data — retained until you delete your account (Account page) or ask us to ([email protected]), or your account is terminated
  • Billing records — retained for 7 years as required for tax and accounting compliance
  • Shorts and their records — Shorts our servers make, and the settings and captions behind them, are kept with your account so Studio can show them, until you delete them or your account. Shorts made in your browser are never sent to us
  • Source video content — deleted immediately after processing completes
  • Videos you upload — automatically deleted 30 days after upload
  • Waitlist sign-ups — kept until you ask us to remove you or delete your account; we send one email when plans launch
  • Sign-in sessions — you stay signed in on a device until you sign out; emailed sign-in links expire after 15 minutes
  • Database backups — encrypted copies kept for up to 13 months, then deleted. If we ever restore one, we delete again anything you asked us to delete since it was made
  • Server logs — retained for 30 days

When you delete your account we keep only what the law requires (billing records, held by Paddle and us for tax) and a one-way fingerprint of your email address, so a restored backup cannot bring your account back.

8. International data transfers

Clipr is operated from the United States. Our servers and the providers listed above process data in the United States and other countries, whose data protection laws may differ from yours. When we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on our providers' Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism, and we protect the data as this policy describes.

9. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Access and portability — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you, in a machine-readable file (JSON)
  • Deletion — have your account and personal data deleted
  • Correction — have inaccurate data corrected (you can change most of it yourself in Studio)
  • Opt out and withdraw consent — decline analytics, or withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before
  • Objection and restriction — object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your data

How to ask. Signed in, open Account (in the account menu) to download your data or delete your account right away. You can also email [email protected] from the address on your account. To protect you, we only act on an email request once we can match it to the account's email address; we may ask you to confirm from that address, and we never ask for more than we need to verify you.

Authorized agents. Someone you authorize may make a request for you. We will ask for your signed permission and may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.

Timing. We confirm an email request within 10 business days and answer within 30 days (one month), or within 45 days where the law allows; if we need longer, up to the legal maximum, we tell you why. Requests are free.

No discrimination. We never deny you the Service, charge you differently or give you a lesser Service for using your rights.

If you disagree. Reply to our answer and we will review it again. You can also complain to your data protection authority or, in California, to the California Privacy Protection Agency (cppa.ca.gov).

10. California residents

This section is our notice under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA), and California's other privacy laws. In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers — email address, display name, account ID, IP address
  • Commercial information — your plan and subscription history (payment details stay with Paddle)
  • Internet or network activity — how you use the Service, pages viewed, device and browser type
  • Audio and visual information — clips and videos you open or upload, and the audio we transcribe for captions
  • Inferences — none: we do not build profiles about you

We collect it from you, from your browser, from sign-in providers you choose (Google, Twitch) and from the public platforms you paste links from (Twitch, Kick). We use it for the business purposes in sections 3 and 4, and disclose it only to the service providers in section 5, for those purposes. We do not collect sensitive personal information beyond what you sign in with, and we use none of it to infer anything about you.

We do not sell or share your personal information, as the CCPA defines those words (selling for money or anything of value, or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising), and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. There is nothing to opt out of, but a Global Privacy Control signal is honoured anyway (section 6).

You have the rights in section 9: to know what we collect, use and disclose; to delete; to correct; to opt out of sale or sharing; to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against.

Shine the Light. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Minors. If you are under 18 and have posted content on Clipr, you can remove it yourself in Studio or ask us to remove it ([email protected]). Removal may not reach copies others have made.

11. European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, Clipr is the controller of your personal data. We rely on these legal bases:

  • Contract — to run your account and do what you ask (downloads, captions, renders, posting)
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and understand use in anonymous totals
  • Consent — for analytics cookies and the waitlist email; you can withdraw it at any time
  • Legal obligation — for billing and tax records

We make no decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you by automated means alone. Our automatic features (captions, suggested moments) only make suggestions you choose to use. You can complain to the supervisory authority where you live or work.

12. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at [email protected].

13. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit
  • Encrypted session storage and encrypted tokens for connected accounts
  • Encrypted database backups
  • Payment data handled exclusively by PCI-compliant Paddle infrastructure

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We will email account holders about material changes before they take effect. We review this policy at least once a year.
